Our Story

Hi and welcome! We are the Voelkers - Josh, Summer, and Willa. Josh and I grew up on opposite ends of the same road. We certainly never imagined ending up back there as adults, but as luck would have it in 2018 we bought an old farmhouse on an acre of flat(!) land on that very road. We knew we wanted to be closer to family in Washington County and raise Willa near nature - it’s amazing how things just worked out. As a family we love to hike, camp, play in the creek, watch movies, and have bonfires. When Willa started Kindergarten in 2020, I decided to take my passion for gardening and turn it into a business. Summers family has deep ties to the land around Linden and we are fortunate that both sides of our family are avid gardeners so settling on the name Kindred just felt right. We grow on 1/4 acre of land so things are tight, but we make it work.

In 2023, we added some raised beds. In 2025 we added a greenhouses and finally a more permanent fencing solution. We also started growing at Summer’s mom’s house on another 1/4 acre of land.

    Owner/ Grower

    The creative force of Kindred Flower Farm since 2021. She is also a yoga instructor, a lapsed Pennsylvania Master Naturalist Volunteer, and Treasurer of Upper Chartiers Creek Watershed Association. She loves her family, nature, hiking, having a laugh, and can not pick a favorite flower.

    Josh & Willa Voelker

    Owners

    Josh works full time for Pitt Ohio Express as the Manager of Training and Retention. On his weekends off, he is building raised beds and helping the garden grow. He loves music (mostly punk), sports (mostly hockey), and remembers every episode of Alf.

    Willa is in 5th grade now (that escalated quickly). She rides horses and is a yellow belt in tae kwon-do. She loves video games and wants a phone desperately.

    Allison Kasper

    Emotional Support/Future Production Director

    Allison is blessed with making things look beautiful with ease. She helps out at markets, events, and creating wreaths and arrangements. She has an amazing 5 year old son named Leo, is Summer’s little sister, and is known for always having the best time.
